10:00 am: Let's Go Hiking: Lake Merritt!

Join us and Let's Go Hiking: Lake Merritt. We will be doing a lovely 3.25 mile walk around Oakland's Lake Merritt. It will be a perfect way to jump start 2019! We will be meeting at the Lake Merritt BART station and will be on our way from there! We will have volunteers to help guide. This is a great way to get exercise! The LightHouse has partnered with the United States Association of Blind Athletes and Anthem Blue Cross for the National Fitness Challenge.

1:00 pm: Try It Workshop: Pole Dancing

The Lighthouse is partnering with San Francisco Pole and Dance to present a series of four Try It Workshops in 2019. If you've ever wanted to try Pole Dancing, this workshop is for you!  We are looking for a small group of blind and visually impaired adults to attend a private class where you will learn the basics of pole dance in a safe and supportive environment. Because of this wonderful partnership, we can offer this class at the very low cost of ten dollars. LightHouse Community Winter Trip with ETC
Friday, January 18th through Sunday, January 20th

Each year, LightHouse partners with our friends from Environmental Travel Companions (ETC) for their always awesome overnight White Water Rafting and Sea Kayaking excursions. In 2019 LightHouse is excited to announce that we will be adding one more of ETC’s epic adventures to our calendar. In January the LightHouse Community Services team invites all students ages 14 and up that are blind or have low vision to join us for our first ETC winter trip during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Our adventure will take us to the Sierra Nevada where we will meet our friends from ETC at their winter cabin in Arnold. The weekend will consist of all-day cross country skiing Saturday and a hike through the world's largest giant sequoias Sunday, before we return to the Bay Area on Sunday afternoon. Our trip will be led by the always fantastic ETC guides who will introduce you to basic skiing techniques and work with you at your skill level to challenge you while experiencing the fun and magic of ETC's winter trips.

Who: Youth and Adults that are blind or have low vision (ages 14 and up)
What: LightHouse weekend winter adventure with friends from ETC
When: Depart 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 18th and return 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20th Where: ETC Winter Cabin in Arnold, CA
Cost: The cost of the trip is $150.00 per student and includes overnight accommodations, food, ski equipment and round trip transportation
RSVP: Please note limited space is available and students must submit payment and ALL necessary paperwork before one's spot in the trip will be confirmed. The deadline to sign up for this trip is Wednesday, January 9th. 11:00 am: Stress Relief Series: Essential Oil Face Masks

In our very first edition of our Stress Relief Series, we will be crafting up some DIY Face Masks with natural and fresh ingredients, including soothing and nourishing essential oils.  DIY stands for Do It Yourself, so let's get together for a fun time of stress relief and relaxation with friends.
