4:30 pm: Kurt Schwartzmann Art Opening

Jan 10

A panel of eight hand-colored drawings in a yellow template depict a series of city bus drivers and details of the front of a bus. In a variety of styles and colors, ranging from a dreamy purple coloring to a terse red rendition, the images depict, at once, a sense of urgency, agency and calm.

10:00 am: Women's March Oakland: Disabled Contingent

Jan 19

Women’s March Oakland will be held on January 19, 2019 and they have secured a place at the front of the parade route for a pan-disability contingent. Join the Women’s March and LightHouse as we march the streets of Oakland to “harness the political power of diverse women and their communities in Oakland… to create transformative social change.”

Women’s March Oakland will be at Lake Merritt and the start of the disabled contingent will be under half a mile from Lake Merritt BART. More detailed location logistics will be released closer to the march date.

If you plan on attending please RSVP on our Eventbrite page. This will also ensure that you receive all important communication leading up to the march.

LightHouse is working with Women’s March Oakland and has the ability to pair you with a guide for access and visual interpretation of an exciting day! We know that a march of this size can provide barriers and we want to make sure you can participate. In order to request a guide, please request one on Eventbrite or contact Allyson Ferrari at aferrari@lighthouse-sf.org or (415) 694 – 7320. We can only provide so many guides, so please let Allyson know by Thursday, 1/10/19.
For more information you can visit the march website https://womensmarchoakland.org/ or contact Laura Millar at laura@lauramillar.com or (925) 321 - 8804
