WORK ARRANGEMENT:     Remote with the requirement to be in person at LightHouse locations as needed up to 20% of the calendar work year.

SALARY RANGE:     $88,000–$96,000

JOB PURPOSE:

 The Grants and Contracts Manager is a key, full-time staff position at LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco. The Grants and Contract Manager reports to the Vice President of Philanthropy and has responsibility for the following duties:

  • In collaboration with ELT, support the development and implementation of a financial strategy to ensure contracts and grants best meet the budgetary requirements of all programs.
  • Tracks proposals and reports for all government, foundation, and corporate fundraising, ensuring high accuracy,
  • Develop and implement Salesforce-based grants and contract management structures in coordination with CFO that ensure LightHouse efficiently captures available awards and contract reimbursement funding.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nonprofit management, business, social/human services, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of demonstrated success in planning, managing, implementing, and securing major awards.
  • Proven government contract management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Exceptional administrative, organizational skills, and attention to details.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and within deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and in a team setting.
  • Effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives.
  • Ability to Convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials.
  • Experience with program evaluation, data collection and analysis in relation to funder compliance and institutional advancement.
  • High degree of computer literacy with excellent knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and data base software applications is required.
  • High affinity for and understanding of the mission of LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
  • High positivity and enthusiasm; capable of motivating others and leading by setting an example of excellence.
  • Proven experience in the project management and delivery of high-level funding projects in collaboration with agency-wide stakeholders.
  • Outstanding project management skills, with the ability to drive complex, multi-faceted projects forward to deliver results on time; advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills and the ability to multi-task and manage a high-pressure environment with timeline pressures.
  • Experience working within a diverse environment; preferably including direct experience collaborating with people who are blind and low vision and other disabilities.
  • Customer Services Oriented.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to: Carry or transport 20lbs; sit at a desk and perform computer-intensive work for extended periods of time; operate standard office equipment; travel independently.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Planning, Writing and Reporting

  • Creates strategy for a large, sustained base of annual corporate, foundation, and government sources with minimum growth expectations of 20%.
  • Research opportunities, sets standards, and implements solutions supporting internal prospect development across departments.
  • Oversees the development and execution of proposals, and the archiving of all proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach.
  • In collaboration with ELT, support the development and implementation of a financial strategy to ensure contracts and grants best meet the budgetary requirements of all programs.
  • Tracks proposals and reports for all government, foundation, and corporate fundraising, ensuring high accuracy,
  • Develop and implement Salesforce-based grants and contract management structures in coordination with CFO that ensure LightHouse efficiently captures available awards and contract reimbursement funding.
  • Works with Program Directors/Managers and Senior Program Director to ensure that grants and reports are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Works with the management team to identify funds needed, preferred funding targets, and approaches.
  • Coordinates and/or assists with publicity and marketing of agency extraordinary events, programs, or capital campaigns as relate to institutional revenue.
  • Supports in the development and production of written marketing materials intended to support institutional revenue generation, and coordination with Graphic Design including, but not limited to, annual report, press releases, and brochures, etc.
  • Supports essential government advocacy requirements.

Fundraising Campaigns

  • Develops, establishes, and implements the infrastructure needed to grow through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, unique events, and corporate and foundation support.
  • Identifies, develops, solicits, cultivates, and maintains key long-term relationships with donor contacts, and prospects.
  • Supports securing financial support from foundations, corporations, and government partners.
  • Expands and diversifies donor base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for existing and new initiatives.
  • Develops and leads execution of institutional fundraising plan.
  • Develops key external alliances by cultivating partnerships that directly support revenue generation in conjunction with ongoing institutional giving efforts.
  • Manages capital campaigns prospect research and strategy for institutional donors in collaboration with ELT and Capital Campaign Manager.
  • Manages sponsorships and collaborates on major solicitations (e.g., annual appeal, events, Holman Prize funding etc.).
  • Participates in strategic planning of programs and new initiatives.
  • Sets processes to recruit corporate and foundation volunteers to assist with LightHouse fundraising efforts.

Data Monitoring

  • Oversees data entry and management of institutional donor database, with direct support from multiple development staff.
  • Oversees research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position LightHouse in line with major funding changes or trends. Only in relation to government
  • Monitors and reports regularly on the progress of institutional development, including through automated reports accessible by ELT via Salesforce.
  • Reviews institutional fundraising goals quarterly and analyze trends and gaps.
  • Oversees agency reporting of information on a quarterly basis that is utilized to fulfill requests from funders, government agencies, Board, and others.

Other Duties

  • Supervises, trains and mentors Institutional Advancement staff and communicates fundraising goals and progress.
  • Supports board members as they take on a more active fundraising role.
  • Participates fully in the organization’s annual events and assists in all other events related to developing community or corporate partnership opportunities leading to revenue generation.
  • Performs ad hoc duties as needed.
  • Able to work flexible schedule, willingness to respond to deadlines as needed.
  • Able to be in San Francisco at least 20% of the calendar year in conjunction with major agency activities as a direct representative of LightHouse.
