Chris Downey

Christopher Downey, RA, is an architect, planner and consultant who lost his sight in 2008. Chris helps design teams and organizations to achieve greater design clarity and better integration of critical tools for the visually impaired. His approach is rooted in the idea that designing better environments for the visually impaired enhances the experience for all people. Chris holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture from North Carolina State University and Masters of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. His projects include from custom residences, the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth, MN, and the MIT’s Rotch Architectural Library. He is currently consulting on the design of the Polytrauma and Blind Rehabilitation Center for the Veterans Administration Palo Alto Health Care System.

Jerry Kuns

Jerry is currently a Technology Specialist at the California School for the Blind in Fremont, California, where he teaches students and teachers the use of information management hardware and software tools for people who are visually impaired. He has held a variety of management and sales positions in firms providing technology equipment and software to people with vision impairments and has consulted with employers in affirmative action, reasonable accommodation and adaptive equipment for employment of people with special needs. Jerry has worked extensively with the LightHouse over the years providing expertise in areas including employment, technology and camp programs.

Stephen Dobbs

Stephen Dobbs is a native San Franciscan, educated at Stanford University in philosophy, history, education, and the arts. He was a post-graduate fellow in psychology at University of California at Santa Cruz, and a post-graduate research associate in American history at Stanford. He has worked as professor of arts and humanities at San Francisco State University, and has been a visiting professor or scholar at Harvard, Stanford, University of Washington, University of London, California State University, and The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. In the non profit section, he has served as Executive Director of the Koret Foundation in San Francisco, and as President & CEO of the Marin Community Foundation (Buck Trust). He has published extensively on subjects including art education and non-profit leadership.
